How to recover your hacked Facebook account
How to recover your hacked Facebook account
Facebook accounts with little or no security have been rampaged by hackers who usually use them for crimes or to damage the owners’ reputation.
Therefore it is important to properly secure your account with a strong password that can’t be easily guessed and also switch on double-layer security which is a two-factor authentication of which the use of SMS or Google authenticator app is the most widely used.
And you could do this by visiting account security on settings on your Facebook account or profile.
And in cases where your account was hacked and you are wondering or feeling frustrated and need help in getting back your account as soon as possible.
Here is an easy guide on how to recover your hacked Facebook account.
Firstly, the most important thing to note is that you cannot recover an account that is not visible or can’t be found on Facebook.
While there are different levels in which one’s account can be hacked and for the worst-case scenario where your password was changed, profile picture, phone number, email address and Facebook name were changed as well, it could still be recovered.
So, if you noticed your Facebook account has been hacked and your phone number or/and email address are still linked to your account this is good news for you as you could recover your account within a minute.
Also if you noticed an unrecognised login to your Facebook account you could quickly change your password and log out of all devices or sessions at the security and login section at settings on your Facebook account.
So let’s say you’ve been logged out of your account and your phone number and/or email address are still connected to your account. You could quickly click on ‘forgotten password’ and reset your password with your phone number or email address and that’s it you will now be able to access your account again and don’t forget to log out of all devices ones you regain access.
Next, for cases where your email address, phone number, profile picture or name has been changed and you no longer have access to your account the first thing you do is to confirm if your account is still visible on your device and if yes great!
So let’s say you can find your account on your chrome browser either on your mobile phone or desktop computer but just that you can’t log in because your password and every other detail have been changed, the next thing you do is to visit www.facebook.com/hacked to begin recovery of your account on that same browser where your account is still visible and follow the instructions on the screen.
You can visit https://youtu.be/a9S0aO53HLg to watch our YouTube video to help you with that.
So after you must have proceed from my account is compromised, Facebook will ask you if you wish to reset your password with your phone number or email and with those details been changed you won’t be able to proceed with that option so the only available option is to click on ‘I do not have access to these’. (You will find it at the bottom of your screen)
In some cases, Facebook will say ‘We can’t confirm that this account belongs to you and can’t help you or give you back the account’ never worry, all you need to do is to repeat the step by visiting www.facebook.com/hacked and follow through the previous guidelines then after clicking on ‘don’t have access to these’ again Facebook should request for your email address which they can use to contact you to restore your hacked Facebook account back to you.
After you must have provided it and submitted, you will then be taken to the next step where you will need to submit a government-issued ID of yourself so Facebook could confirm you’re the owner of the account and then restore the account to you.
So, do ensure that the photo is clear before submitting.
You will then see a confirmation message that your ID has been received and Facebook will contact you within 5 days for the next step.
And if your ID was accepted you should get a link or code which you would use to regain access back to your account.
Congratulations.
